Staff from the Medical Centre and colleagues from Central Beds Council were on hand to talk about the move to new premises in the Acorn Centre on Chestnut Avenue – opposite the public car park and next to the ambulance and fire stations.

Dr William Hollington, a senior partner and GP at the practice said: “It was great to see so many of our patients on Saturday, and hear how enthusiastic they are about the plans.

“Securing new premises for our GP practice has been an ongoing project for many years, during which time our patients have been very supportive.

The practice is working in partnership with Central Beds Council who are spending £1.4 million to refurbish the Acorn Centre in order for it to be used.

Councillor Maurice Jones, Executive Member for Corporate Resources, said: “We are delighted to have been able to help Ivel Medical Centre to find a new home where staff will be able to build on the excellent work which they already do, as well as supporting the community for many years to come.”

Work to refurbish the premises will begin early in 2015, with a view to the practice moving in the autumn.

Further information on the move and new premises is now on show at the GP practice’s current premises on The Baulk in Biggleswade.
