Police appeal after woman’s bag snatched

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her bag snatched in Market Square, Sandy.

At about 3.50pm on Friday, December 5, the victim, a woman in her 40s was approached by a man as she walked towards the car park on the square. He grabbed her red Fiorelli bag then assaulted her when she tried to resist.

He made off down the side of the building in Pleasant Place which leads towards to a small alleyway leading to Sunderland Road. It is believed he made off in a grey Audi Saloon possibly A5 or A6.

The offender is described as about six-foot tall, medium build, and was wearing a black knitted peaked cap, a dark scarf pulled over his nose and mouth, a dark jacket of sweatshirt material and grey jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Surinder Ram said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in Market Square at the time of the incident or saw the silver car in Sunderland Road.
