High praise for Sandy Upper School

The National League tables for schools show Sandy Upper School remaining the top school in Central Bedfordshire.

Now Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, has written to congratulate the school’s Principal, Karen Hayward and staff, for being in the top 100 non-selective state funded schools in England for achieving 81% 5 A*-C at GCSE, including Maths and English.

The school is also one of the top 100 non-selective state funded schools, for the value added to pupils’ achievement and progress from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.

Mr Gibb said he would like to “thank staff for their hard work and professionalism in this important area of a young person’s education”.

Miss Hayward said: This is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff in regards to ensuring the best possible educational outcomes for all students in the school.

“It is a great honour to receive this recognition and congratulations from the Minster of State for Education and I am delighted that, once again, the outstanding achievements of the students have been officially recognised by the Department of Education. This displays that our students are receiving a first class and exceptional education which is equal to the very best 100 schools in the country.

“I am extremely proud of all my staff and students and we will continue to ensure all students receive the very best education, so that they can go on and fulfil their lifelong ambitions - this really is a team effort from both staff and students.”
