Proper prog with The Kurmujun

A bit of classic and progressive rock never goes amiss of a weekend.

Saturday (December 8) could be a good night to be heading out, then, when prog rock specialists The Kurmujun arrive in the area.

The four-piece rock band from Cambridge specialise in classic and progressive rock from the late 1960s and 1970s and will be performing at The Rose in Biggleswade.

Punters can expect to hear a wide variety of different sounds and influences at the pub, including from acts as diverse as David Bowie, Cream and Jimi Hendrix among others.

The basic line-up is guitar, bass, drums and vocals but this is often augmented by keyboards, base pedals, a flute and on occasions an additional guitar too.

Rock covers will be on the agenda at The Old Oak pub in Arlesey on Saturday, courtesy of Hesh.

Over in Henlow, 3 Chix and a Guitar will be providing a more acoustic kind of sound at The Engineer’s Arms, also on Saturday.

The trio, formerly known as The Soul Sisters are experienced musicians and play a wide variety of hits from today and yesteryear.

Four-piece Brit pop and rock covers band Get Carter will be playing at The Wrestlers pub in Langford on Saturday.

The band was formed just a year ago and punters can expect to hear tributes to acts like Oasis, The Jam, Foo Fighters and Pulp.

Angelo Starr – the brother of Edwin – will also be appearing at The Bird in Hand pub in Lower Stondon on Saturday.

The singer has a reputation for playing the very best of soul.

Sounds of the 1960s and 1970s will be the theme at Potton and District Club on Saturday when Huggy Flares perform there.

One of the region’s funkiest and fun soul and disco bands will be performing Motown classics from the 1960s and funk and disco favourites from the 1970s, with occasional more recent tracks thrown in for good measure.

Punters can expect sparkly shirts, a packed dance floor and fun for everyone.

Sax, jazzy flute, bluesy harmonica and vocals are all staple features of a set from covers duo Hit ‘n’ Run.

The two have been performing together for more than 20 years and will be putting on a show at The Chequers pub in Stotfold on Friday (December 7).

Popular Chronicle Country performer Paul Adams will be kick-starting the weekend with a performance at The Coach and Horses pub in Stotfold on Friday.

Paul plays regularly at pubs and clubs around the area and he has now been performing live for almost 20 years.

His remit is quite broad and as such punters can expect to hear covers of classic tracks from acts as diverse as Robbie Williams, John Denver, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Bon Jovi.
