£11.3m cuts to Central Beds’ budget

A BUDGET cut of £11.3m has been agreed by Central Bedfordshire Council.

The executive committee agreed its budget for the 2012/13 financial year at a meeting on Tuesday.

The social care, health and housing directorate will lose £4.3m, children’s services will be down by £2.9m, sustainable communities by £4m.

But the council tax will be frozen for a second year running.

Councillors also agreed £79.9m of capital spending for 2012/13, forming part of a four year capital programme of investment in roads, street lighting, schools, care schemes and leisure projects.

The full council is expected to approve the budget on Thursday (February 23).
