£1.9 million refurbishment of nursing home complete

Councillor Hazel Ramsay attended Beaumont Park Nursing Home after the project was completed on schedule.

The extension sees the creation of 12 new en-suite bedrooms, plus a purpose-built kitchen and new laundry facilities.

Councillor Ramsay said: “The work that has been undertaken at the nursing home really is of the highest standard.

“The exterior works have ensured the original look and feel of the Victorian property has been retained, whilst providing a host of new facilities that help the team provide vital care and support services to even more people from around Biggleswade.

“Congratulations to all involved in bringing the extension and refurbishment project to a successful conclusion.”

Originally built in the 1840s, Beaumont Park, on Shortmead Street, has also benefitted from an extensive refurbishment programme so all rooms meet the modern standards of the brand new wing.

The work was carried out by Colchester contractors Horizon Construction Limited, who ensured the home remained in keeping with the original Victorian manor house facade.
