Pupils welcome quiet play area

A QUIET play area has been constructed on the site of an old swimming pool.

The benched area was opened for children at St Mary’s Lower School in Stotfold on the afternoon of Thursday, January 12. Now the youngsters have an optional alternative to loud playground games and running around.

Headteacher, Colin Phelps, said: “We used to have a swimming pool and sadly it became too expensive to repair and run it so that area was shut down a couple of years ago.

“We’ve made it into a quiet play area. The children can decide to run around on the bigger playground but read a book or do quieter activities in the new playground. It’s increased the facilities we have and the children are already enjoying it.”
