Railway company’s plans to improve its passenger service

A train company is promising to improve its stations.

First Capital Connect, which runs the trains that call at Sandy, Bigglewade and Arlesey stations, is making a wide range of station improvements across its network as part of its Better Stations initiative.

In Biggleswade a new customer assistance office has been added to platforms one and two. This provides travellers with a place to speak to members of staff if they have any queries.

The existing coffee shop has been given a fresh look and a new owner has taken over. Upgrades to the platform lighting will be completed by the end of the month. This will improve visibility and security.

At Sandy’s railway station lighting has already been upgraded. By March there will also be a better public address system and additional customer information screens to keep people informed about their trains.

First Capital Connect’s managing director, Neal Lawson, said: “We are always looking at ways to improve the passenger experience and I am confident customers will notice a difference when using our station facilities.

“We will try our best to limit the impact of the work.”
