Representing your village on the council

NEW councillors are being sought to represent their communities.

People who live and work in South Cambridgeshire, which includes Gamlingay, are being targeted by South Cambs District Council’s campaign to encourage more people to stand for election.

The council is running a Be a Councillor event at its Cambourne offices to help people to find out more about what district councillors do and how to stand for election. It will take place on Monday, February 13 at 6pm.

Jean Hunter, council chief executive, said: “Councillors are elected by local people to represent their interests and make sure that their voice is being heard.

“They are also ordinary people with jobs, families and outside interests. They work hard to represent the interests of the local community as well as having a say on decisions for the district as a whole.”
