Robbers attack woman in Shefford

Robbers attacked a mother while her young children looked on.

The “shocking” and “appalling” assault took place on Friday (May 2) at about 5.10pm.

The 31-year-old had gone out of her house in Lucas Way, Shefford to wave goodbye to a friend. She had left her door unlocked and when she went back inside she saw a man come through the doorway, followed by two other men.

They threatened to harm her children if she did not hand over money. They also kicked her and grabbed her face to stop her screaming.

The victim was able to kick one robber in the groin and they eventually ran off with only her purse.

They ran away from the house, turning right, left then right near some fields leading to the A600. It is thought that they were heading to a waiting car.

One man was mixed race and about 30-years-old with short dark hair. He was wearing a navy blue hoody.

The second was Asian, with a bobble hat, a dark hoody and red scarf. The third was also Asian and wore a red scarf and a blue hoody. All three men were about 5ft 8ins tall.

The stolen purse contained £40. It was a small black leather Jimmy Choo purse.

Detective constable Surinder Ram of Bedford CID said: “This was an appalling and shocking attack on a woman in her own home and in front of her children. She’s been left bruised and understandably very scared.

“We know that people saw the three offenders running away down Lucas Way; we’re hoping that someone else has seen them in the area and saw them getting into a car.
