Sandy crop advisor is at top of his field

AN advisor to farmers has become one of the top two people in his field.

Andrew Havergal of Stratford Road in Sandy has received a graduate diploma in agronomy with environmental management from the Harper Adams University College.

Agronomy is the science of soil management and crop production. Only two people in the UK have achieved this level of qualification.

Andrew said: “I advise farmers on the requirements of their crops. Day to day I am on farms looking at the crops within fields.

“I am quite chuffed to be one of two with this qualification. It’s been a lot of work which I quite enjoyed doing because it covered everything I do in my day to day life.”
