Sandy photographer’s success

A PHOTOGRAPHER is thrilled to have achieved success in her first Royal Photographic Society qualification.

Sarah Niemann has been given a licentiateship, the first level of distinction that the society awards.

The 53-year-old from Birch Grove in Sandy said: “I’d long been interested in taking photos on holiday but I realised that I could see something with my eyes and I couldn’t catch it with my camera – it was very frustrating.

“I did a City and Guild qualification and they talk about this being a logical next step.”

Sarah, who works in the species recovery team at the RSPB, had to submit a portfolio of 10 photographs that were not only impressive individually but also worked well as a set.

It took her months to prepare and she sifted through several years worth of photographs to get the perfect combination.

Sarah uploads many of her photographs online. To see them visit www.flickr.com/photos/sarah_niemann
