Schools to tell of council help

Schools will soon be able to report council support to Ofsted.

Schools will be able to give feedback on the support they receive from the council.

The plans have been announced by the chief inspector of schools, Sir Michael Wilshaw, following the publication of Ofsted’s Annual Report at the end of November.

The report found that the performance of schools varied greatly between local authority areas with similar demographics and levels of deprivation. Central Beds’ schools were rated in the top 10 per cent nationwide in this report.

Councillor Mark Versallion, executive member for children’s services, said: “It is heartening that Sir Michael Wilshaw has acknowledged the key role that councils play in supporting schools.”
