Sky really is the limit for Hannah

A GIRL is preparing to take the plunge – and all in the name of charity.

Hannah Abel, 17, of London Road will be doing a sponsored parachute jump in aid of the Cure Leukaemia charity.

A relative and friend of Hannah, who attends Stratton Upper School have been diagnosed with leukaemia and she wants to do as much as she can to support the charity.

She said: “A friend of mine was diagnosed with leukaemia four years ago, while the relative is still receiving treatment now.

“Thankfully my friend recovered two years ago and my relative is also recovering but the charity does important work and I want to do what I can to help.”

Hannah has decided to take part in a series of charity challenges to raise as much money as she can, starting with the jump on Saturday, October 1.

She said: “I’m hoping that this will be the first in a series of activities.

“I have spoken to other people who have done parachute jumps and it seemed like a good one to start with.”

Hannah, who will be doing a tandem jump with an instructor at the North London Parachute Centre in March, Cambridgeshire, admits that she is scared of heights.

She said: “I will be quite nervous but I think having an instructor with me will help.

“It’s difficult as there isn’t much you can do to prepare yourself for those kind of heights!”
