Skydive in poorly Eva’s aid
Emma King, of Arlesey and her cousins Shelley Ward and Laura Rea will be jumping 10,000 feet from an aeroplane on October 20 to raise money for the Stroke Association.
The three want to raise money and awareness after 83-year-old Eva King suffered a stroke following a fall at her home in Sandy.

Hide AdEmma, 25, of Gothic Way, and her cousins also want to bring in funds that the family can use to pay for Eva’s rehabilitation treatment.
She said: “My nan was a very independent woman, but after she had a fall at her home she was rushed to hospital but then had a stoke while she was there.
“She is now in a wheelchair and she finds it difficult to walk. She has also lost the use of her left arm which makes moving around very difficult.”
Eva is now living at the Quince Court retirement housing complex in Sandy, but she requires further rehabilitation.

Hide AdEmma, who works at a care home, added: “She has had some rehabilitation work from the NHS but she has not made the progress that they were hoping for and they have said they cannot fund any more.
“As such we are now looking to carry on with it privately but we will need funding to do this.”
Emma, Shelley and Laura will be doing tandem jumps at UK Parachuting at Sibson Airfield near Peterborough.
This will be Emma’s first skydive but she has not felt too nervous so far.

“I want to spread the word about how crippling a stroke can be and how it takes away a person’s independence.”
