Store donations to families through holidays

Donations of fruit squash and biscuits have been made to the Bedfordshire Food Aid Network for them to add to summer food packs by Asda in Biggleswade.

Judith Blackman, the store’s community life champion, said: “These families can struggle financially over the school holidays when children aren’t getting a free school meal. As every parent knows, keeping children fed and entertained over the long summer holidays costs more than when they are at school, however hard you try and economise. Asda also has a food bank trolley in store for customers to donate food items, which are then distributed by the Biggleswade Baptist Church. At this time of year, additional non-essential items for children would also be greatly appreciated.”
