Student enlightened by Borneo trip
A 16-year-old student who attends Samuel Whitbread Academy recently spent a month in Borneo. Ellie-Jane Day, from Stotfold, helped local school children to write English, cleaned up beaches and dug foundations for a new building.
She said: “Living in the jungle and working in the heat and humidity was extremely hard at times. On the plus side I gained my PADI Scuba Diving Certificate, I also learnt an awful lot about myself. I now appreciate a nice comfortable toilet and home comforts.”
