Teenage boy attacked in Sandy

The 17-year-old was attacked while he was walking along the footpath on Monday, July 16.

The incident took place at around 8.30pm as the victim was walking along the pathway, which is near to the train station and Potton Road in Sandy.

The teenager was approached by three white males aged between 16 and 20 who then attacked him.

One of the offenders pushed the victim and a second then struck him just below the shoulder with an implement which caused a small puncture wound before the three fled.

The victim made his way to Potton Road where he was able to flag down a passing motorist who alerted the emergency services. He was taken to Bedford South Wing Hospital by paramedics for treatment to a minor injury to his shoulder.

Detective constable Martyn Hynes of Bedfordshire Police, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed the assault or seen the offenders fleeing the area.

He said: “This was a seemingly unprovoked attack which has left a young boy very shaken up and we need the public’s help in tracing his attackers.

“We believe that a number of people were in the area at the time, either coming from the train station or local residents, and I’d really like to hear from anyone who may have seen this assault or the offenders.”
