Themed day was all Greek to students

Gods and goddesses, archaeologists and artisans could all be found at a middle school.

The Year 6 children at Henlow Academy were celebrating the Ancient Greeks on Thursday, October 18.

They wore themed clothing for the day and took part in a range of activities. They decorated clay pots, had in an archeological dig, tried out Greek drama and tickled their tastebuds with a Greek banquet.

Head of Key Stage 2 humanities, Susannah Goward, said, “Days like this really bring the period of history alive for our pupils.

“It has been a fantastic opportunity for them to experience a range of historical activities and everyone has dressed up, including the teachers. “The banquet was fantastic. Everyone brought in something to share from hummus and pitta bread to grapes and olives.”
