Toy train exhibition was right on track to pull in the crowds

THIRTEEN defied the common superstition by being a thoroughly lucky number at a toy train exhibition.

The Train Collectors’ Society held its 13th annual event in Sandy on Saturday.

Society chairman, David Ramsey, said: “We had the best turnout we’ve ever had for a Saturday only event and the vintage bus that we always supply from Sandy station was well used.

“A lot of people came from all over the country.

“It’s the largest toy train exhibition in the whole country.

“We were sponsored by the Bachmann Collectors’ Club, which was very important for us.”

As well as visitors from Scotland, Cornwall and Devon, there were also plenty of local families who wandered down to Sandy Upper School to see the trains.

David, who lives in Langford, added that they are already planning next year’s event, which will take place on the first Saturday in July.
