A childcare club is improving according to Ofsted.

Barney’s Club in Great Gransden, which provides after school and holiday care for four to 11-year-olds, was graded as inadequate in December following a staff shortage which impacted on staff to child ratios.

An inspector returned to the club in March. She wrote: “The appointment of a qualified manager and the recruitment of an additional qualified staff member has meant that appropriate ratios of qualified staff are maintained at each session.

“The manager organises the staffing rotas to ensure that these ratios are maintained at all times.”

A suitably qualified deputy manager has also been appointed and other staff are receiving more training.

She added: “Children are cared for by staff who know them and understand their individual needs and so offer relevant support and extend the children’s learning.”
