Trio run fundraisers for Kenyan aid trip

Three men from the same family are holding fundraising events to help them join an aid project in Kenya.

Luke Newman, along with his son Reece, 17, and his father Steve, are planning to jon a humantarian trip to Nakuru next year to help children in one of the poorest suburbs.

The will be joining the Derby County Community Trust and African Adventures on the two-week trip to help three schools in need of support.

Three fundraising events are planned, the first on Friday, August 26, with ‘Old School ‘Good Times’ Presents: Now That’s What I Call The White Hart Summertime!, with music including Old School Garage, R’n’B and hip-hop night. A Black Tie Fundraising Ball is planned for Saturday, October 8, at the Holiday Inn Garden Court, Sandy, from 7pm. Tickets are £27.50 and more details are at www.biy.ly/BTFBLN

Luke said: “This will be my fourth time, my father’s sixth, but my son’s first time to Nakuru.

“We have to raise £7,650 (£2,550 each) which goes towards funding the trip and to the schools in Kenya. Also, a small percentage of the money raised goes towards Derby County Community Trust which will help sustain their disability programme.”
