Two nurseries given thumbs up in inspection

Two nurseries have been graded as ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors.

The Treetops Nurseries in Stotfold High Street and Kingsfield Road in Biggleswade both received the ‘good’ score in all categories.

The nurseries are listed by Ofsted under their former name, Toybox.

Of the Biggleswade site the inspector wrote: “Teaching is good because staff use detailed planning fully linked to their observations and children’s interests.

“As a result children make good progress.”

Children are given increasing levels of responsibility to develop their independence. They are happy and motivated.

To further improve staff should encourage more open -ended play where children make decisions.

Meanwhile, at the Stotfold site: “Staff use spontaneous and planned observations to identify how children are progressing in their learning and development.

“Teaching is effective and children are making good progress because staff plan a wide range of interesting activities.”

The communication between staff and parents is good.

Younger children should be given more chances to develop their imaginations.
