The meeting, held at Biggleswade Community Fire Station on Saturday, March 13, was attended by a dozen supporters and a wide range of ages.

It was chaired by skater Dan McLoughlin and he was joined by both young and older people who would like to see the skatepark better used, updated and refurbished. Ideas were put forward at the meeting and the possibility of arranging events during the summer was discussed.

Other ideas included a visit to other skateparks in the UK, running the summer skate school, and re-establishing links with the young people of Biggleswade’s twin town Erlensee in Germany, which has its own skatepark.

Dan said: “We have enjoyed the skatepark in Biggleswade for the last 15 years but it’s time to see if the equipment can be updated and the skatepark refurbished and better used. We have had a lot of interest from local councillors and we look forward to opening up discussions with both the town council and Central Bedfordshire Council.”

Another meeting is to be held after Easter and a Facebook page is to be set up in the next few days where ideas can be put forward.
