On Good Friday morning a large group of people gathered at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Station Road, to walk through the town behind the cross.

It stopped in the Market Square where at 11am there was a service led by Vince Williams from the Pentecostal Church.

Live worship music was provided by members of his sister church in Lakenheath, Suffolk.

As is traditional after the service, hot cross buns were distributed, and these were provided by St Andrew’s Parish Church.

The intrepid worshippers gathered at 6.15am, made even more of a challenge due to the clocks going forward.

It was cold but bright at the start of the short service, led by the Rev Andrew Hollins from Trinity Methodist Church.

All churches were represented and there were Bible readings and traditional Easter hymns. The sun rose in a clear sky as the service drew to a close. This is the second year that this service has been held and it is likely to be repeated next year.
