Watery holidays

YOUNG SWIMMERS enjoyed their final summer session this week.

Throughout the holidays the pool at Sandye Place Academy was made available for a children’s session and an adult session each week. Sandy councillor, Ken Lynch, organised the project and was pleased with its success. He said: “During the six weeks we did four hours a week and 140 people went.

“A big thanks to Sharon Kane the business manager at Sandye Place, Aragon Housing Association for their donation so senior citizens could go swimming and to Sandy Town Council for their contribution for the young people to go swimming.

“It was a great success and though the weather wasn’t always as good as expected the water was warm and people didn’t worry about it. The lifeguards Michael Welch and Matthew Gilbert were excellent and got on really well with the young people.”

Ken hopes that the project can be resumed next year.
