Hour-by-hour weather forecast: here’s when Storm Christoph will hit Luton and the rest of Bedfordshire with heavy rain

A yellow Met Office weather warning for rain is in place for some parts of Bedfordshire - including Bedford - from 12am on Tuesday (19 Jan) until 12pm on Thursday (21 Jan).

A yellow weather warning is also in place for Luton from 12am on Wednesday (20 Jan) until 12pm on Thursday (21 Jan).

What to expect from these weather warnings:

- Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

- Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life

- Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible

- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

- Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads

- Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

The Met Office forecast for the East of England says there will be occasional outbreaks of rain overnight on Tuesday, which will leave most places cloudy and damp, especially in the west.

Wednesday will see further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, staying mild and windy for all.

However, rain is then set to generally clear early on Thursday, leaving cold temperatures, windy weather, some sunny spells and the chance of a few showers in some areas.
