Website could be redesigned

A TOWN council’s website could be set for a redesign.

Biggleswade Town Council has formed a new sub-committee to look at its current website to see how it can be developed and improved in the future.

New features could include more information about the town’s clubs, organisations and events and a link-up with Central Beds Council’s website.

Mayor Tim Woodward said: “The website has currently been running in its current format for the past five or six years.

People have been approaching us saying that there is not enough information and that they are finding it difficult to navigate around the site and find exactly what they are looking for.”

“We will be making the website more modern and generally refreshing the look.

“At the moment there is also only a town guide on the website. Therefore one of the new features we will be adding will be about the town, and we will be providing more information about clubs, organisations and events.”

Residents have also approached the council and commented on how they would like to see it being improved

Mr Woodward added: “We want to be able to link the website to the Central Bedfordshire Council website. There has been confusion when residents have needed to find out information or make contact with the council about a feature or service but have been unsure whether they need the town council or Central Beds Council. They are unsure of which website to look at.

He hopes the redesign would make it easier for members of the public to establish which of the organisations they will need to approach, saving them time and easing frustration.

Biggleswade town councillors discussed the matter at a full council meeting on Tuesday (August 23), and the new sub-committee was formed.

Committee members include Biggleswade mayor Councillor Tim Woodward and Councillors Bernard Briars, Ian Bond, Sarah Mulchrone and staff member Christine Gray.

Although a date for their first meeting has yet to be confirmed, they will be driving the project forward.
