Work on Gamlingay Eco Hub is at a standstill

THE construction of a controversial community building has come to a standstill.

Work on Gamlingay Community Eco Hub stopped this week after the main contractors, Deejak, went into administration.

Work began in November and was due to be finished by the end of May.

Nick Telford-Reed, chairman of Gamlingay Parish Council, said: “Deejak, the main contractor for the Eco Hub, has gone into administration.

“Gamlingay Parish Council would like to make it clear that it is committed to delivering this exciting and important community facility, although this setback will obviously cause delay to the completion date.”

Deejak was transforming Gamlingay community centre into an extended and more energy efficient building.

It is not yet known how and if this setback will affect the cost.
