Young chef Luke cooks up a treat

AN ASPIRING chef cooked up a treat in a Rotary cooking competition.

Luke Ellis, a student at Samuel Whitbread Community College in Clifton was the winner of the Young Chef contest which took place at the school.

It was organised and hosted in Chronicle Country by the Rotary Clubs of Biggleswade and Biggleswade Ivel.

He will now compete against other cooks at the Rotary District 1070 finals of the competition, which will be held in Huntingdon on Saturday, January 28.

Luke, 14 was among students from Years 9 to 11 who were asked to make a two-course meal with a budget of no more than £10.

He triumphed after his delicately-prepared salmon dish and cheesecake to follow impressed judges.

The runner-up was Beth Lowden.

Tracey Lund from Samuel Whitbread said: “The students prepared some excellent food. In the next round Luke will be asked to prepare a three-course meal.”
