Beds League: Waresley and Southill win in Premier

Waresley restricted the visitors to 175-8 in their 45 overs. Wickets were shared around, with Zac Ringrose the most impressive with 2-24 from his nine overs.

Waresley set off in their run chase at over five an over, and only a mini collapse near the end gave any cause for concern. Ian Donald (66) with his third 50 in four innings was again chief runscorer, with important cameos from Charlie Lewis (31), Andrew Naylor (27), and Ringrose (25*).

Southill Park coasted to victory by 141 runs at home to Blunham. Electing to bat first, Park were 2-1 but then Mehul Adatia (38) and Bhavik Talsania (65) put them in control and a half century from Phil Johnson further down the order saw them score 250-7. Wayne Goldsmith took three wickets for Blunham.

In reply once Michael Pickard (33) was dismissed the innings fell apart and they were all out for 109, Jack Good taking 4-25 off eight overs.

In Division One Biggleswade Town moved into third with victory over Dunstable seconds at Lancot Park.

Dunstable were put in and Ewan Smailes remove both openers.

The third wicket pair added 89 but once Bruce Ditcham removed Kilduff the innings started to slide. Matt Twigg and Chris Walford shared the remaining seven wickets as Dunstable went from 130-2 to 175 all out. Twigg finished on 3-29 (including two smart catches for Smailes) while Walford took 4-10.

In Biggleswade’s reply Ditcham is in good form and was untroubled but a succession of partners came and went. When Ditcham departed soon after reaching his 50 Town were 102-7 in the 28th over.

Chris Waghorn and Smailes ran well between the wickets and their unbeaten eighth wicket partnership was 76 with Waghorn finishing on 47 and Smailes 34 as they won by 3 wickets.

Langford stay top of Division One after beating Luton Town & Indians seconds with two balls and a wicket to spare.

After Luton had scored 197-8 Langford passed that in the 45th over thanks to scores through the order from Conor Robson (31), Paul Crouch (42) and Luke Peters (34).

Ickwell didn’t post a high enough total to trouble Ickleford and they lost by six wickets. Ickwell chose to bat and Ben Welch smashed three fours off the first over from opening bowler Nick Timm.

Several batsmen looked comfortable but although making a good start none went on to play a match winning innings and the Ickwell total score was 190.

This proved to be not enough as Ickleford won in the 23rd over. Ickwell’s cause was not helped by conceding 42 extras.

The Division Four game at Fairfield saw Biggleswade seconds host Ampthill thirds.

Ampthill were reduced to 33-5. Jack Lorimer took three wickets with Luke Ball and George Boyd the other wicket takers. Ampthill saw some mid order consolidation but after making 24 Jon Keeling retired and an end was opened up. Tom Boyd nipped in with two wickets and Ampthill were all out for 116.

Biggleswade made short work of chasing down the target. Openers Nick Birch and Max Smith put on 31. Boyd and Frank Woodward saw Town home with an unbroken 82 run partnership.
