Biggleswade Town fell to an agonising one wicket defeat at Eggington Forresters in Division One.

Steady scoring from Town saw them post 183-9, Adam Dagless the top scorer with 39. Eggington’s reply was a stop start affair but they added runs further down the order and got over the line with one wicket still intact.

Ickwell’s miserable weekend that saw two defeats on Saturday continued with a double losee in the Beds League on Saturday.

In Division One Ickwell, playing on the Green, put visitors Luton Town & Indians seconds into bat. Young Robert Bassin (2-38) bowling with good pace took the first two wickets and at the halfway stage Indians were 99-3. The rate of scoring did not improve greatly and the visitors closed on 215-7. Daniel Denton bowled the most economical spell with just 23 runs from his nine overs.

But once again there was no Ickwell batsmen able to hold the innings together. Several made a reasonable start – including newcomer Harry Jerome – but many offered up easy catches. Ickwell were all out for 166.

In Division Three Ickwell seconds put Kempston Sports into bat and they made 229-8 from their 40 overs. In reply some of the early batsmen such as Jamie Fensome (45), Tom Winetroube (23) and Ben Fensome (32) began to build a reasonable reply but the scoring rate was slow and Ickwell fell a long way short on 160-7.

In Division Four an unbeaten 105 from opener Bruce Ditcham saw Biggleswade cruise past Offley & Stopsley’s total with six wickets in hand.
