AFC Dunstable claimed a slightly flattering 3-0 victory over Bedfordshire rivals Stotfold on Wednesday night to stay third in the Molten Spartan SML Premier Division.

In a tentative opening, AFC gained control of the midfield, and took the lead on 14 minutes when George Hingley’s cross deflected nicely into the path of James Bishop who took a touch before steering the ball into the bottom corner.

At this point AFC seemed to put their foot off the gas as Stotfold came back into the game.

And it took a couple of good saves from Ryan Darby and some last ditch defending by centre-backs Dan Ryan and Kyle Lincoln to keep Stotfold out.

AFC scored their second goal against the run of play, following some good inter play by BJ Christie and Connor Smith before laying on a Richard Parker header who made no mistake from 10 yards out.

After a half time roasting AFC tightened up defensively in the second half and made sure of victory six minutes in when Dan Ryan jabbed home their third from close range following a corner.

AFC brought on Gareth Harnaman and James Magi to shore things up as they effectively cruised to victory, with Christie going close on a couple of more occasions.

AFC have no game at the weekend, but go to London Colney on Tuesday.

Attendance: 78.
