The Blues lost 7-0 at home in the reverse fixture and were determined to avoid a repeat. They made the perfect start in Surrey when Christian Tavernier converted a penalty in the seventh minute, awarded when keeper Jamie Norris fouled Terry Williams.

Williams had a chance to extend the lead but Egham piled on the pressure and Brendan Matthew nodded home the equaliser shortly before half time.

The longer the second half went on it looked like Arlesey may hold out for a point as Nick Thomspon stood firm in goal.

But with three minutes remaining Reece Yorke forced the ball over the line from a corner for the Sarnies’ winner.

Depsite the game being far from dirty referee Michael Heavey awarded six yellows to Arlesey and five to Egham, with only one for a foul.

Sitting nine points above the Southern League Division One Central relegation zone Arlesey’s fate is in their hands. They host midtable Petersfield on Saturday.
