Attacking up the slope and against a strong wind in the first half, Gamlingay found it difficult to get a grip on the game in the opening half hour.

They fell behind on the quarter hour mark when the defence failed to react to a ball over the top and the in-form Sean Avis flicked the ball over Aaron Loney to give the visitors the lead.

As half hour approached the visitors doubled their lead when Gamlingay struggled to clear and Callum Harrison capitalised on this to score from close range.

The second goal seemed to kick the home side into life as Smith twice fired over the bar before Joe Webb was felled on the edge of the box on the stroke of half time. From the resulting free kick Churms’ low drive found the back of the net via the base of the post.

Gamlingay were rejuvenated in the second half and were level just before the hour when Sam Davidson saw his shot parried and Smith reacted quickest to score.

United took the lead with 15 minutes remaining when sub James Worboys was brought down in the box by with a clumsy challenge and Churms did the honours from the penalty spot for his 20th of the season.

The lead was doubled with ten minutes to go when man of the match Churms squared and Bonham was on hand to fire home for the second week running.

This Saturday sees Gamlingay entertain Lakenheath in the last 2pm kick off.
