Craig Daniel notched a hat-trick as Biggleswade Town recorded a stunning 5-2 victory over Chalfont St Peter at the weekend.

The hosts were in front after just seven minutes when Daniel smashed home his first, before the scorer then set up Brett Donnelly to make it 2-0.

Chalfont pulled one back through Scott Fitzgerald on 21 minutes, but Town had their two-goal lead back moments later when Daniel rocketed another drive into the net.

Lee Allinson made it 4-1 after Daniel’s assist, while he completed his hat-trick in the second half with a simple tap in from Donnelly’s cross.

Chalfont started to hit back late on as Alan Hedley scored on 74 minutes, but they were denied any more thanks to a superb save from Michael McEntagart.

The result saw Biggleswade back into the play-offs, as they are now fifth, 10 points behind leaders Burnham but with a game in hand.

On Tuesday night, Waders travel to rock bottom Woodford United with the game kicking off at 7.30pm.
