Ex-Hatter among four new Waders signings

Biggleswade Town have made a quartet of new signings as football pre-season training gets under way in earnest.

Manager Chris Nunn has opted for youth with two new defenders, a midfielder and a ulitiy player added to the squad at the Carlsberg Stadium.

Biggleswade are preparing to start their fourth season in the Southern League Premier, the third tier of non-league football.

Lucas Perry began with Luton Town U18s. After being released the 19-year-old spent last season at Barton Rovers before signing for the Waders.

He will be joined in the defensive ranks by Miles Smith, 23, who arrives from Soham. His career began at West Ham United and since then has played for a host of clubs including Kettering Town, Histon and Bury Town.

Midfielder Rob Parker arrives from Rugby Town. At Biggleswade he will link up again with new Waders assistant manager Craig Adams who he played for at Wellingborough and Rugby.

The fourth player is Connor Hall, a utility player who has featured for St Neots Town and Bury Town.

The Waders boss tweeted: “Really happy with the four new additions, all 23 or under & they all finished the season at level 4. But they are all great signings.”

A clutch of Waders players have committed to the club for the 2016/17 season including club captain Craig Daniel, Tony Burnett, Connor Vincent and Inih Effiong.

However, former Waders striker Sam Merson has joined National League South side St Albans City.
