The SSML Division One fixture kicked off on a very heavy pitch, Langford were facing a blustery wind and the sun low in the sky.

Five minutes in New Bradwell won a wind assisted corner. The kick was delivered into the goalmouth; both the Langford defence and keeper misjudged the flight of the ball leaving Forrester in space to head home at the far post for the opening goal.

Both teams struggled with the conditions and the pitch cutting up, however it was New Bradwell who found the net, when after 14 minutes Forrester ran through to shot home when one on one with Lawrence in the Langford goal.

This finally spurred Langford into action, and despite the pitch they played their usual passing game, a move involving Lee Pateman, Nathan Mallett and Sean Monagle ended with Monagle shooting wide.

Two minutes later Sean Murray headed the ball forward to lee Pateman who drilled a cross to Sean Monagle who made no mistake to pull one back for Langford

Langford piled on the pressure but were unable to add to their goal tally.

New Bradwell kicked off the second half and within 30 seconds were once again two goals to the good, Forrester running through unopposed to score with a low shot, and complete his hattrick.

The game descended into a midfield battle, with neither team able to make any telling attacks. In the 74th minute a long ball forward was met and cleared long up the field by Langford keeper Adam Lawrence, allowing John Vooght to run between two defenders and calmly stroke the ball past the stranded keeper into the bottom corner of New Bradwell’s net.

Numerous substitutions and the state of the pitch broke up play, and although Langford finished strongly, they could not draw level.

Langford’s next match is at home to Risborough Rangers on Saturday, February 6 at 3pm.
