He said the club had received a number of applications since former Fulham and QPR star Rufus Brevett left the hot seat last week.

The club’s committee will be interviewing shortly and an appointment is expected before Christmas.

Brevett departed following the home defeat to Chesham United which left them hovering around the Southern League Premier relegation zone.

Mr Cohen said this week: “I was very sorry to lose Rufus, he is one of the nicest guys in football.

“But we move on and we hope to get someone in place as soon as possible. We have had a number of applications from some interesting candidates, and my phone hasn’t stopped ringing.

“The first thing we want to do is to get away from the relegation zone, and there are enough games left to do that.”

He added the club wanted the new face to play a key role in the development of the club as a whole over the next few years.
