The game started with both teams playing open end to end football and possession being shared.

Then nine minutes in Woodford were defending out near the right hand corner flag when Sean Monagle closed down and robbed Sanderson of the ball, moved inside, rounded the keeper and tapped into the empty net for 1-0.

This shook Woodford into action, and they attacked playing good passing football, until Elenya found himself in space centrally, but shot narrowly over the bar from 30 yards out.

Langford responded with fluent football of their own, culminating with Matt Kenneford shooting over the bar. A sharp save by Lawrence at the foot of a post, followed by a bad miss when one on one with the keeper by Cassidy-Sinclair, preserved Langford’s lead.

Then on 32 minutes, following some weak Langford defending and failure to clear the danger, Topal fired home an equaliser.

Both teams attacked, and play swung from end to end, but it was Langford who found the net. A cross from the left was headed down by Angus Stewart and deftly back heeled past the keeper by Sean Monagle to claim his second goal of the game.

Woodford finished the half strongly, but Langford defended well to deny them further chances.

The visitors started the second half strongly, but were unable to create any scoring chances or get any shots on target.

Then Langford manager Phil Childs made an inspired substitution bringing on new signing Lee Pateman for his first game. Within two minutes with his first touch he got on the end of a fine cross from Nathan Mallett to score with a great shot for 3-1.

The pattern of the game was broken up by both side making substitutions, and the only other chance fell to Woodford’s Homans, who broke clear of the Langford defence, to shoot wide with only the keeper to beat.
