They haven’t played a match since February 20 so wanted to get a friendly in before facing Letchworth GC Eagles in the league next Sunday at Sandy Upper School.

Both teams were short of players due to work commitments and injuries and so played 10 a side although Toddington did have one sub.

The match started evenly with both sides creating chances but Toddington took the lead on 15 minutes and then had a goal disallowed on 28 minutes as well.

Almost immediately after that Katie put new player Lydia through to bring Sandy level on 30 minutes and that remained the score at half time.

Kayleigh really took control of the midfield in the second half, supported by Claire and Katie, and they created chances for Amber and Lydia which paid off on 60 minutes when Katie again put Lydia through and then on 64 minutes Kayleigh scored with a really good header from Katie’s terrific corner.

Credit to Toddington who didn’t let their heads drop and put the Sandy defence of Kirsty, Jade, Faye and Jenny under intense pressure, forced Amy into several saves and interceptions and eventually scored on 83 minutes when they clearly thought they were back in the game.

However, Sandy scored straight from the kick off on 84 minutes when Jenny put Lydia through down the left wing for her to complete her hat trick on her debut for the Club.

With no subs it was tough for Sandy but the girls did really well and especially new girl Lydia.

Team: Amie Fage, Kirsty Fylling, Jade Anderson, Faye Prout, Jenny Holt, Katie Seldon, Kayleigh Bennett, Claire Ashwell, Amber Willaims & Lydia Radley.
