Opening blitz sees Kings beat Arlesey

Hot-shot striker Mitchell Weiss led the way for the visitors as they cruised to a 3-0 victory in Division 1 Central of the Southern League.

A rampant Kings side launched wave after wave of attacks right from the off.

Just seven minutes were on the clock when David Hutton stole the ball from Arlesey midway into their half, surged forward and unselfishly picked out the incoming Weiss to fire home for 1-0.

Within 90 seconds a long ball forward was delivered to Weiss on the left and he outmuscled the Arlesey defence before turning and delivering a stunning shot from outside the side of the box into the far corner.

A bemused Arlesey Town attempted to stem the tide, but after a Matt Bateman shot was saved, Hutton replicated the Weiss strike when he received the ball 25 yards out, flicked it up and delivered a missile high into the net. And that was after just 10 minutes.

Arlesey endeavoured to get back into the game, producing some neat passing of their own and they pressed in midfield, but they were unable to break down the Kings Langley defence.

Indeed Langley keeper Xavi Comas wasn’t called into action until the 40th minute.

The second half was never going to reach these dizzying heights, although Plowright and Immanuelson Duku both came within a whisker of a fourth goal for Kings Langley.

The result leaves the Hertfordshire side in a play-off spot while Arlesey’s 10th home defeat from 14 games has seen them slip a little further down the table, although still ten points clear of the drop zone.

Arlesey are at home to Uxbridge on Saturday before they host fellow Division One Central side Barton Rovers in the Beds Senior Cup semi-final on Tuesday.
