Top three all win in Bedfordshire League

League leaders Renhold United took their winning ways up to six games by going nap with a 5-1 victory at Sandy.

Ashley Drummond and Jason Allison both netted twice alongside a single strike from Wesley Lewis against a lone home reply from Nathan Morris.

Whilst second place AFC Oakley M&DH had to wait until the 87th minute before Ali Smith struck direct from a corner to earn them all three points in a 1-0 win at third from bottom of the table Caldecote who have now failed to win any of their last 10 league games.

The biggest winners of the day were third place Wilstead who netted a 7-2 home win over Ampthill Town Reserves. Paul Jones and Colin Marshall both scored braces to go alongside single goals from Michael Jones, Stuart Robson and Matt Davidson against two in reply from Town’s Jake Keech.

Now in fourth place are Flitwick Town who jumped above the non-playing AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College after being gifted three points when Eastcotts AFC failed to raise a side to entertain them at Weston Park.

Also gifted three points were now seventh place Shefford Town & Campton after Ickwell & Old Warden failed to raise a side to host them on the Green.

For bottom of the table Elstow Abbey it was home defeat number 10 in a row when beaten 2-1 by Marston Shelton Rovers. Wes Burrows shot the Rovers ahead with goals in the 6th and 65th minutes before Abbey’s Lucas Banton reduced the arrears six minutes from time to set up a tense finish.

Division One supported by Wests Citroen Bedford

Third place Queens Park Crescents are now just goal difference behind second place Stevington after they emerged 2-0 home winners over Westoning thanks to goals from Ayaz Hussain and Myles Ferraro.

Whilst just a further two points behind in fourth place are Meltis Albion following their 3-1 away win at Ickleford, Scott Alleyne netting twice and John Fay once against a lone home reply via Sean Duignan.

For now seventh place Potton Town it’s now six games unbeaten after winning 3-0 at bottom of the table AFC Oakley M&DH Reserves. Bradley Smith, Chris Moore and James Wills netted the goals to do the damage.

Whilst Riseley Sports were gifted three points and are now up into ninth place after second from bottom of the table Houghton Athletic failed to raise a side to meet them at Gold Street.

Bedfordshire FA Intermediate Cup Semi-Finals

Sundon Park Rangers will now face Crawley Green Reserves in the final tie at Ampthill Town FC on Wednesday, April 6 following their 3-0 home win over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves. Shaka Anderson scored twice and Matthew Conway once.

Whilst South Midlands League Crawley Green Reserves ensured it would not be an all Bedfordshire County Football League final by netting a 2-1 home victory over Henlow whose lone goal came via Antony Bowskill.

Jubilee Cup Second Round

With Flitwick Town Reserves thanks to a brace of goals from David Keefe winning 2-0 at Kempston Hammers they will now be at home in a semi-final tie at the Football Centre against Cople & Bedford SA after they emerged 4-1 home winners over Atletico Europa. Ollie Hughes scored twice alongside single strikes from James Munns and Brett Allen against one in reply from Daniel Green.

Also into the last four are Cranfield United Reserves who with a goal from Ben Thompson were 1-0 home winners over Marston Shelton Rovers Reserves and will now host Clapham Sports after they were granted a bye after Bedford United failed to raise a side for their scheduled Quarter-final tie.

Watson Shield First Round

Bedfordshire Saturday Youth League side Ampthill Town will now host Bedford Albion in round two after winning 3-2 at Clifton. Tom Bates, Harry Nelson and Josh Hodgman scored the vital goals against home replies from Joe Marshall and Mason Bambridge.

For the second weekend running the Westoning Reserves v Sandy Reserves tie was postponed due to the state of the pitch at Greenfield Road.

Watson Shield Second Round

The biggest winners of the day were Renhold United Reserves who ran out 14-2 home victors over Henlow Reserves. Michael France and Nathan France both scored five times and joined on the scoresheet by a brace from Andrew Pyke and single goals for Jonathan Lam and Aran Hazelwood against a brace in reply from Tom Boggon.

They will now face a home quarter-final tie against Wixams who ran out second round 6-1 home winners over Dinamo Flitwick. Iain Hall with a hat-trick were joined on the scoresheet by Jonny Cockram who netted twice and Ed Hawkes who netted once against a single reply from Dan Cardno.

Also at home in the quarter final will be AFC Dunton whom with goals from Craig Hill, Jimmy Fuller, Hayden Essam and Tony Normanm saw off Stevington Reserves 4-3 at Horseshoes Close. Stevington’s goals came from Joe Kvilum, Sam Nightingale and Aaron Fletcher to earn a visit from Bedfordshire Saturday Youth League side Sacred Heart Offley who won 5-3 at AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College A. Jay Champkins with a brace was joined on the scoresheet by Aedan Edwards, Stephen Shadlow and Jamie Smith to bring up the nap hand against home replies via Giovanni Moscaritolo twice and Joseph Ogunremi once.

For division four Caldecote A it was a spot of giant killing with a 4-0 victory at division three Shefford Town & Campton A thanks to goals from Jack Stagg, Jamie Paterson, Chris Richardson and Neil Giles to reward themselves with a home quarter-final tie against another division three side Sundon Park Rovers who won 6-2 at White Eagles. Kane Griffiths netting twice alongside single strikes from Craig Barnes, Scott Fraser, Caine Caldwell and Martyn Dawson against Eagles replies via Arkadivsz Boruch and Filip Ziolkewski.
