A 3-2 win at home to Cambridge City wrapped up an excellent end to 2015 and sees Biggleswade Town in ninth place in the table – just one point behind Weymouth in fourth.

After seeing off St Neots Twon 5-2 on Boxing Day, the boys in green picked up where they left off in front of a 274-strong crowd on Tuesday by taking an early lead through a Chris Marsh volley.

And on the quarter hour mark they were two goals to the good as Tony Burnett grabbed his second goal in as many games. Inih Effiong went close on several occasions, hitting the underside of the bar, but was unable to find the back of the net this time.

City’s task became much tougher ten minutes before half time when Adam Murray was shown a red card.

But as St Neots proved on Boxing Day, ten men can be dangerous and Duran Reynolds pulled one back just before half time.

And the visitors were on level terms when Michael King put through his own net shortly after the restart.

However parity didn’t last long as Marsh grabbed his second and Waders’ third on 52 minutes with a superb chip into the top corner.

That’s the way it stayed as Town earned the points although full credit to the ten men of Cambridge for a strong performance.

Biggleswade will now look to make the most of fixtures against teams towards the bottom. They visit Histon on Saturday before welcoming Bideford to the Carlsberg Stadium on Tuesday night.
