Cricketers named

Following publication of a photograph of Biggleswade’s Chamber of Trade cricket team at a charity match in the 1960s (March 29, 2013), Liz Mayston has kindly contacted us saying: “As my father George is in the photo, I can name a few more faces and put them in the right order”.

Ken Page also got in touch and with the help of Chris Dilley, son of the late Horace, most of the players have now been named.

From left to right in the back row (rather than the front as previously believed) are: Eric Linger, Eric Revels, Bernard Gee (seed shop), Horace Gale (TV and electrical shop), ?, Neville Smith (bicycle shop), David Thomas, and umpire Bill Williams.

While in the front row, left to right are: ?, Sam Bonfield (grocer), George Styles (stonemason and undertaker), George Mayston (Liz’s father who owned a shoe shop), Stan Mason (grocer) and Ben Jemmett.

Thanks go to Liz, Ken and Chris.
