Cricketers of Caldecote

IT was the mid 1930s and not long before the advent of the Second World War when this now considerably old photograph of Caldecote Cricket Club members was taken.

Ronald Bowles of Biggleswade very kindly brought in the picture.

In the back row, left to right are: Fred Webb, Albert Bygraves, Reg Stokes, ?, and Cecil Bygraves.

In the middle row, left to right are: Wal King (umpire), Stan Wagstaff, - Bygraves, Charles (Digger) Odell, Arthur Clark, Harry Price, Jack Bowles, Ted Stokes and Sid Godfrey.

And in the front row are: – Stacy, Billy Bygraves, Arthur Brunt, Ernie Edwards, Eric King, Aubrey Bowles and Baden Godfrey.

The team were winners of the Bedford League Division season in 1935 which is possibly why the photo was taken.

Can any readers supply the missing name in the back row, or recall the first name of Mr Stacy in the front? Please contact Memory Lane.
