Father and son at Haynes School

Two generations of the same family appear in these photographs which were taken at the village school in Haynes 40 years apart.

Like Northill School in last week’s Memory Lane, the first picture was taken when the Haynes school was a primary school. But this photo is much older as it was snapped in around 1939.

Raymond Baker, who owns the photograph, is second from right in the back row. His sister Lilian and brother Philip also appear in the picture.

The names of all the remaining pupils have been handwritten on the back, although not in order. They are as follows: Arthur Herbert, Derek Golder, Francis Cox, Bryan Jefford, James Butler, Donald Russell, Ronald Bennett, Richard Cook, Ronald Cox, Anthony Barker, Leslie Jefford, Enid Housden, Muriel Woodcroft, Rena Yeary, Gwendoline Bennett, Phyllis Coates, Patricia Facey, Beatrice Knight, Ann Emerton, Christine Bennett, Violet Bennett, Kenneth Bennett, Colin Golder, Peter Bennett, Mary Herbert, Doreen Jay, Muriel Jay, Pamela Cox, Gracie Russell, Arthur Roberts, Albert Webb and Raymond Bridge.

Like his father, Raymond’s son James also went on to attend the village school in Haynes.

This second photograph was taken in 1968-69 and shows the school football team at the time.

Although the names of the boys in this picture are not known, Raymond Baker’s son James, who was a team member, appears fourth from left in the back row.

If you can help identify them, please get in touch.

Thanks go to Raymond for bringing in these pictures.
