Not Hoddy but Meredith?
Although it was believed that both our recent photographs of Northill School show former head teacher Mr Hoddy, Liz Schofield (nee Horner) has contacted us to say she believes this isn’t the case.
Published on December 28, 2012, both pictures were taken in the 1970s, before and after the school went through the changes in Bedfordshire education from a two to a three tier system.
Mr Hoddy appears in the lower school photo but Liz says of the second: “Having looked closely, I am sure that the person sitting next to Rev Charles Jones is not Mr Hoddy, but the previous headmaster, Mr Meredith. He, his wife and three children also lived in the school house. He was the head teacher in my last two years at Northill School.”
