Remembering rally
Patrick Weldon was also able to give us some more information on our photo of a car rally in Biggleswade during the 1970s (Rallying round in the 1970s, January 24, 2014). Patrick worked for Biggleswade company Smart & Brown for 24 years until its closure in 1981. And he recognised that the photo of Reg Night with a clipboard was taken in the grounds of the now demolished factory in London Road.
The building in the background was the night watchman’s hut, and the event was in fact a car treasure hunt run by members of the Sabel Motor Club. Patrick was chairman of the club at the time and also took part.
