The sixties BUDs of Stratton House
This group of Biggleswade Urban District Councillors was photographed outside their offices at Stratton House in 1964 and kindly emailed in to us by the town’s historian Ken Page. By coincidence, this picture also features well known Biggleswade shop owner Horace Gale who is in our cricket team photo this week.
The councillors are are from left to right: Leslie (Tec) Chambers, Charles Cook, Horace Gale, Rex Huckle, Ron Jemmett, Frank Killeen, Arthur Butcher, Anne Smith, Winifred Blayney, Thomas Wilson (surveyor), David Burrows and Arthur Boness.
I am sure many readers out there will remember some, if not all, of these eminent Biggleswade folk. Thanks go to Ken.
